"All children deserve access to a well-rounded education that includes a standards-based music curriculum taught by highly qualified, certified teachers." - Dr. John Benham, Professor and Music Advocate

Thank you for visiting our page. Please visit our Facebook page - like us and contribute to our page there.

We are presently raising funds in support of our elementary students to allow them an extended education in Intermediate Strings. This will allow students in 5th grade to extend to a full year what has started as a 10- to 12-week program paid for through generous community donations as well as direct support by the Bellingham School District, in particular by Dr. Mike Copland and his team at the district office. There are present needs for instruments (violins, violas and cellos) and the supporting materials to allow this experience to be shared by all 5th graders in the Bellingham School District.

We are soliciting donations in support of continuing this experience for our students. If you'd like to make a donation in support of music education in the Bellingham School District, please send your donation to us at PO Box 1273, Bellingham, WA 98227. - At least twice a week curricular music in all grades pre-K through 5th grades
- Elementary choirs
- Full year 5th grade instrumental instruction at least twice a week
- Daily choir, band and orchestra in middle schools
- Beginning band in high school
- Music instructors at their specialty and level
- Release time for music teachers for planning/coordination, just as teachers of other core content receive
- Music teachers need substitute time, just as teachers of other core content receive
- Consistency IS a priority

Music courses place an emphasis upon teamwork, concentration, creativity, problem-solving and more. Each of these abilities work in favor of the student to prepare them for life and career.

About Our Organization
We are a community group composed of parents, students and other interested persons who understand that music is a unique method of experiencing life and a unique mode of human experience and self-expression. Further, we understand that music is a distinct process of thinking and we should focus on improving the musical experience for the students.

We support providing a broad range of musical education which is relevant and inclusive. In this manner, we can remain proactive rather than reactive.

We understand that by not offering strong music education programs, that we are not educating the whole person and that we are likely ignoring the student who otherwise would be able to demonstrate a particular and specific gift in music.

We are volunteering to enable high-quality and consistent music education throughout the Bellingham School District.
